Custom laminated glass featuring Spatial Element’s folded fabric, now available only at Archetype Glass.
Archetype Glass is proud to announce the launch of a new exclusive collaboration with one of America’s foremost avant-garde fabric artists: Donna Glubo-Schwartz, owner and Principal Designer at Spatial Element.
Through an innovative lamination process not available anywhere else, Archetype Glass can now incorporate Spatial Element’s stunning three-dimensional folded fabric in our laminated glass, creating an entirely new portfolio of materials to help interior designers and architects bring their visions to life.
Spatial Element designs and produces colorful and vibrant custom made three-dimensional fabrics utilizing the Japanese technique of Shibori – the art of manipulating fabric through folding, pinching, blocking, dyeing and stitching. Through this new and exclusive collaboration, these unique three-dimensional materials can now be incorporated into Archetype Glass’ custom laminated glass.
A nearly endless selection of colors
Our custom laminated glass featuring Spatial Element’s one-of-a-kind fabrics are not only styled by your choice of colored fabric, but can also be tinted with any of Archetype Glass’ interlayer colored glass and colored mediums. Regardless of the color palette of the space you’re designing, Archetype Glass and Spatial Element can almost certainly create a solution for you.
Customizable transparency and translucency
By creatively mixing different Spatial Element materials with Archetype Glass’ massive library of glass and mediums, we can create a laminated glass solution with precisely the amount of light transmittance and translucency your design requires. From fully-opaque glass for one-sided wall cladding or privacy partition walls, through to nearly transparent solutions for optimal natural lighting, our custom fabric glass can be manufactured to your exacting specifications.
Elevate your mirrored designs
By layering Spatial Element’s one-of-a-kind folded fabric over one of Archetype Glass’ mirrored layers, we can create a custom laminated mirror with depth and dimension like you and your clients have never seen before. Even better, your choice of fabric and interlayer can optimize the amount of reflectivity to the specific needs of your vision for the space.
Add a textured surface layer
Don’t forget, Archetype Glass has a massive materials library of textured, rippled, scalloped, wavy, frosted, and bubbled glass in our portfolio (to name only a few!). In combination with Spatial Element’s laminated folded fabric – which already creates a three-dimensional verticality to our glass – a textured surface layer adds even more dimension to our laminated glass solutions.
In a phrase: “If you can envision it, we can create it.”
The samples above are only a selection of dozens (and eventually hundreds) of laminated fabric glass in our Spatial Element portfolio.
