A Letter from the Founding Owner and President,
Archetype Frameless Glass, Inc.
(DBA: Archetype Glass, Inc.)
To our employees, the design community, their clients, and all those dedicated to protecting the natural environment,
At Archetype Glass, we are proud to lead the industry in the production of custom, decorative, architectural safety-rated art glass. Our commitment to sustainability is reflected not only in the materials we use but also in our unique approach to fabrication. As our clients, design partners, and the communities we serve continue to seek products that minimize their environmental impact, we remain steadfast in believing that less is more.
One of the key ways Archetype Glass stands apart is through our intentional decision to avoid large, energy-intensive machinery like heated presses and vacuum chambers. Instead, we rely on the skilled hands of craftspersons who carefully fabricate each piece of glass. This hands-on process allows us to create one-of-a-kind, creative works of art while significantly reducing our energy consumption and environmental footprint. By opting for this more thoughtful, human-driven approach, Archetype is able to lead the industry in producing art glass that is as socially responsible and sustainable as it is visually striking.
Glass, by its very nature, is an inert material that doesn’t release harmful gases into the environment. The polyester-based interlayers we use, which have been trusted in Europe for decades and were adopted in the US in the late 1980s and early 1990s, are a key part of our sustainable process. These interlayers are cast by hand between sheets of glass, with the exposed portion making up less than 1% of the total visible surface. As a result, Archetype’s finished materials have no impact on indoor air quality in the spaces where they are installed. Furthermore, our art glass products are safety-rated and designed to protect those who inhabit the spaces we help create.
At Archetype, we also take pride in the fact that all of our fabrication work is carried out right here in the United States. As the demand for creative architectural materials grows, we are committed to sourcing as much of our raw material as possible from US manufacturers. When materials are not available domestically, we strive to partner with nations allied with the United States to ensure ethical production practices and to minimize the risk of supporting labor exploitation, such as slave or child labor.
By choosing craftsmanship over machinery, sustainability over mass production, and ethical sourcing over convenience, Archetype Glass is redefining what it means to create beautiful, environmentally responsible products. We are grateful for the continued support of our employees, partners, and clients as we work together to build a future where art, sustainability, and social responsibility go hand in hand.
Thank you for your trust and partnership as we continue to lead by example in both design and environmental stewardship. Sincerely,
Paul J. Weber
